Challenges in Sustainability Achieves Q2 Ranking in Latest SCImago Release

Hong Kong, April 16, 2026 — Challenges in Sustainability (CiS) has achieved a Q2 ranking in the SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) 2025 release, based on the latest Scopus data. The journal is currently associated with an SJR indicator of 0.52, reflecting its growing citation performance and increasing academic influence in sustainability research.

According to the latest SCImago classification, CiS is ranked in the second quartile (Q2) in Ecology. The journal is also indexed across several closely related subject areas, including Global and Planetary Change, Management, Monitoring, Policy and Law, Nature and Landscape Conservation, and Geography, Planning and Development, where it continues to demonstrate stable development.

These subject areas align closely with the journal’s established scope, which emphasises interdisciplinary sustainability research integrating environmental, social, and economic dimensions. The journal’s focus on climate resilience, resource efficiency, sustainable policy frameworks, and socio-ecological systems reflects its coherent academic positioning across both environmental science and social science domains.
